The widgets that Krento displays on your desktop are called stones; these stones can launch your browser, perform a web search, display your current IP address, take you to your Gmail account and more. The Krento stones are sorted into groups called circles. There’s a default circle to get started with, a few extra circles that you can choose to install during the setup process, and there’s the option to create custom circles as well. So to sum it up, stones linked to functionality that can prove to be quite useful are presented as circles on your desktop by the Krento application.

Krento can be installed on any 32 or 64-bit Windows editions from Windows XP SP1 up to Windows 8. Please note that Krento needs the .NET Framework 2.0 or newer to work. So if you have a Windows-powered machine with .NET Framework on it, you will be able to quickly and effortlessly get Krento up and running.
It must be added here that Krento is also available as a portable version. If you’re constantly on the go and you want to take Krento with you, get the portable version.

There are four ways to bring up the Krento interface: from the context menu that shows up when you right click the Krento icon in the system tray, by double clicking the pulsar, by using the Win + S hotkey, or by clicking the mouse wheel button (the last two can be changed to something else from the Settings menu). What you see when you bring up the Krento interface depends on the circle you pick (there’s the default circle that can be modified, there are a few extra circles to choose from, and you can also create your own custom circles) and on the skin you choose for Krento (there are several skins to choose from).

As mentioned above, stones linked to functionality that can prove to be quite useful are presented as circles on your desktop by the Krento application. These stones can open an application, perform a Wikipedia or Google search, open your Gmail account, open your music folder, restart or shut down the computer, access various social networks, display your IP, display the current date, access the mouse settings, and more.

Krento combines good looks, ease of use, and very useful functionality.

Pros

Krento can be easily installed on just about any Windows edition; there’s a portable version as well. There are several circles to choose from and you can also create your own circles. The Krento stones can perform a variety of functions. The interface is customizable. Hotkeys are supported. Krento is free.

Cons

None that I could think of.
